Coley and Frank 12th September 2015
With the recent law change, that now allows gay couples across the whole of the United States to get married, we felt that it was time to start showcasing the wonderful bears that have recently tied the knot.
We are thrilled and honored that the first beary couple, is none other than Coley Cummiskey and Frank Rollings, who are the founders and owners of the amazing Bear App GROWLr. They were married last year in Los Angeles, and in true bridal magazine style, we are showcasing their special day as the first Wedding Feature of 2016.
Coley originally from Syracuse NY, and Frank originally from Lancaster SC, met six years ago at a Fourth of July BBQ and had their first conversation online, ironically, on Bear 411, one of GROWLr’s competitors.
Last year Frank surprised Coley with a Valentine’s Day proposal in Palm Springs, traditionally getting down on one knee, and Coley took no time to say Yes!.
Whilst wearing their custom made Calvin Klein tuxedos, their ceremony and reception took place in he historic Los Angeles Theatre, in September 2015. The Los Angeles Theatre, is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the interior was modeled after the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. It has been used as a filming location for Glee, Mad Men, Charlie’s Angels, American Horror Story: Hotel and The Muppets.
The Beautiful ceremony was conducted by JP Reynolds. JP is a non-denominational officiant with over 20 years of experience. Throughout his career he has performed several televised weddings including the reality show sweethearts, Rob and Amber, from Survivor and Amazing Race.
Frank chose his two daughters, Kathlyn and Addison, to be his groomswomen and Coley chose to have his friends Greg and Justin as his two groomsmen.
Kathlyn Rollings is Frank’s youngest daughter. She is 21 years old and lives in Columbia, SC. She is currently a senior at the University of South Carolina majoring in Elementary Education.
Addison Slaton is Frank’s oldest daughter and lives in Columbus, SC. She and her husband Kevin were married last year after being childhood sweethearts since the age of 14.
Greg Matthews is 40 years old and lives in Columbus, OH. He graduated The Ohio State University with a PhD in Sociology and a Master’s in Business. He currently works in the Marketing Department of Victoria’s Secret.
Justin Allen is 34 years old and lives in North Hollywood, CA and is working on his degree in business while working for the City of Pasadena.
After the ceremony, Frank, Coley and their guests dined at the Los Angeles Theatre, with catering by TresLA, with floral decoration by Butterfly Floral, and the beautiful cake was made by Fantasy Frosting.
After dinner the handsome grooms, took full advantage of the stage at the Los Angeles Theatre, and surprised the guests with a special guest performance by Debbie Gibson. She then surprised them by serenading Frank and Coley with “The Rose”. “The moment was so special and beautiful that it brought us both to tears” The grooms told me. Coley also told me Ms Gibson was very excited to be singing for Big Hairy Bears.
“As we discovered later, our venue choices were closely tied to “American Horror Story: Hotel”. Our rehearsal dinner was at the Cicada Club, which served at the inspiration for the interior set and exterior of the show’s ˜Hotel Cortez. Also, our sweetheart table during dinner was the site where the two German tourists were caged and drained of their blood in the basement of the hotel”. Coley told us.
We want to wish Coley and Frank many congratulations, and many years of happiness to come.
